What you will need to make them:
1/2 cup of Flour
1 cup liquid Starch
water balloons or small balloons
yarn, she used thread from a box of make your own Friendship Bracelets
Mix the flour and starch in a bowl until there are no clumps
Pick the color yarn you would like, she was making them for Easter so she picked light colors
Blow up a balloon
This was about the right size.
Put a strand of yarn in the mixture and coat the entire length of yarn. We figured that if you put it in more of a circle shape that it would allow for it to have less knots.
Once the yarn is coated, pull out of bowl and wipe extra flour/starch mixture off of it.
Wrap balloon in whatever design you wish.
Lay balloons out to dry on a towl. As you can see she chose to have different designs, and with the kids making them with us, they got very creative.
Once the yarn is dry, pop balloons and gently remove from the inside. *You will know they are done when the yarn is hard.
She picked a clear decorative bowl to place them in, they are now an adorable center piece.
*Suggestion, have a few wet and dry paper towels nearby as the mixture can get very messy.

Oh wow! I've been wanting to get on Pinterest to find some easter themed decorations to make :) this is awesome.
As for the liquid starch... I've never seen that before, I wonder if cornstarch and water will do (LOL this is me being cheap)
The starch would be a vital piece of this craft, it would be what causes it to get hard and stay hard. :) Good thought though.
i saw one of these that they made into a wreath... I would love one on my door...now my problem with most pintrest items...having to ACTUALLY DOING IT!! haha
Very cute craft. I think I remember doing something similar when I was a child. I am sure if I did this with my rowdy little men, we would be best to do it outdoors! LOL
I've seen these made into balloon mobiles, but I never thought of eggs!
